Itinerary Details

Day 1: Lyon
Arrive at Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport. If your cruise package includes a group arrival transfer or you’ve arranged a private transfer, a Uniworld representative will welcome you and take you to the ship.

Day 2: Lyon
Ancient Lyon is a city of captivating contrasts, blending Roman heritage with stunning modern architecture and Renaissance charm. There’s plenty to discover, from scenic bike paths to the secret passageways of the silk weavers. While you're in town, consider enjoying lunch at one of the many traditional bouchons that define this hub of French gastronomy.

This evening, a special Captain’s Welcome Reception and Dinner awaits you.

Day 3: Mâcon
In Burgundy, life moves at a more leisurely pace, with endless vineyards full of ripe grapes. Beaune, the capital of the region's wine trade, is celebrated for its rich history, beauty, and exquisite wines, as well as its medieval hospital, the Hospices de Beaune.

Day 4: Tain-l'Hermitage
If you appreciate fine wine, you'll love the twin villages of Tournon and Tain-l’Hermitage. Tournon may be small, but it has a rich history—dating back to the 10th century when a castle was built on the hilltop for protection. As you stroll through the Rue de Doux, you'll admire the elegant houses of affluent merchants and military officers, passing by the 14th-century church and France's oldest secondary school.

Day 5: Viviers
Viviers is a charming village where time seems to stand still, with a history spanning over 1,600 years and a remarkable architectural heritage. Once divided by religious lines, with clergy residing in the upper town and laypeople below, your exploration will take you through both areas, starting at the hilltop and descending to the riverbank.

Day 6: Avignon
The walled city of Avignon is one of southern France's most intriguing towns, filled with historical treasures, including the fortress residence of rebellious popes who broke from Rome. Today, you'll visit the Palace of the Popes and have the opportunity to see the iconic 2,000-year-old Roman aqueduct.

This evening, enjoy a special Captain’s Farewell Reception and Dinner.

Day 7: Arles
Discover the sun-kissed town of Arles, renowned for its remarkable Roman ruins and as the inspiration behind nearly 200 paintings by Van Gogh. Founded by the ancient Greeks in the sixth century BC and originally named Theline, Arles was the site of the Romans’ first bridge across the Rhône River, establishing a vital route between Italy and Spain.

Day 8: Arles
Disembark the ship. If your cruise package includes a group departure transfer or you’ve arranged a private transfer, you will be taken to Marseille Airport for your flight home.
