Rüdesheim, with roots dating back to Roman times, is famed for its Drosselgasse, a narrow street filled with shops and wine bars, as well as the impressive Niederwald Monument.
Day 4: Frankfurt
Vibrant Frankfurt, often called “Mainhattan,” is home to world-class museums, soaring skyscrapers, cozy wine taverns, and lovely parks. Choose a brief tour to get an overview of this major European financial hub, or opt for a visit to romantic Heidelberg and its Renaissance castle.

Your ship will dock in the charming Franconian town of Würzburg, where you can explore the stunning Würzburg Residence, one of Europe’s most opulent Baroque palaces.
Day 7: Cruising the Main River to Kitzingen
Experience a fairytale version of the Middle Ages in Rothenburg and visit a medieval castle likened to a miniature Versailles. Enjoy a relaxing day onboard as your ship navigates the Main River between Würzburg and Bamberg, transitioning from wine country to the beer-brewing center of Bavaria. Along the way, you’ll pass picturesque villages, romantic castle ruins, and beautiful old bridges, observing a variety of vessels on the river.
Day 8: Bamberg
Today, your boutique hotel on water takes you to Bamberg, a well-preserved town that offers a glimpse into medieval times. Explore the city on foot or venture into the Franconian countryside for an authentic rural experience, including a tractor ride. Bamberg is built on seven hills, each topped with a church.
Day 9: Nuremberg and Cruising the Main-Danube Canal
Head to the top deck or find a good viewing spot to witness your ship navigate the Main-Danube Canal, an impressive feat of modern engineering with 16 locks that lift your vessel to the European “continental divide.” Arrive in the quintessential medieval city of Nuremberg, famous for its gingerbread and pocket watches, as well as its significant 20th-century history. You can choose between two memorable exploration options: a tour of a hidden Nazi art bunker or a visit to key WWII sites, including the massive Nazi Party Rally Grounds.

Situated at the confluence of three rivers—the Danube, Inn, and Ilz—Passau is known for its ornate Baroque cathedral. Enjoy a walking tour of this well-preserved city, which escaped significant damage during WWII.
Day 12: Weissenkirchen
Named for its white church, Weissenkirchen is possibly the prettiest village in the Wachau Valley. A local expert will guide you through the village, introducing you to regional delicacies and a wine tasting.
