Itinerary Details

Day 1: Welcome to Copenhagen
Step into the magical Danish capital that inspired Hans Christian Andersen’s timeless tales of mermaids, queens, and ugly ducklings. Spend the day immersing yourself in the quintessential hygge that flows through the city’s charming streets, before joining your Local Specialist for an engaging sightseeing tour of Copenhagen's most iconic landmarks. The Amalienborg Palace Quarter takes centre stage as you admire its 18th-century façades and the equestrian statue of King Frederik V at its heart. You’ll also visit Christiansborg Palace, the Neoclassical Cathedral, and the tragic Little Mermaid statue, immortalising the tale of the mermaid who sacrificed her life in the sea to become human. The day ends with a light supper shared with your Travel Director and companions.

Day 2: Explore Historic Copenhagen
Enjoy free time to explore at your own pace, whether strolling through the city's streets or reliving childhood memories at Europe’s oldest amusement park, Tivoli Gardens. Alternatively, join the Optional Experience to the picturesque fishing village of Dragør, with its maze of narrow alleyways and charming yellow-walled, thatched cottages in traditional Danish style.

Day 3: Journey Through Stunning Scenery to Randers
Leave Copenhagen behind as you travel towards the Danish island of Funen and the city of Odense, birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen. In the afternoon, continue your journey across the picturesque landscapes of the Jutland Peninsula to Randers, with its cosy half-timbered merchant houses and medieval lanes. Tonight, stay at one of Trafalgar's Stays With Stories – the historic Hotel Randers, known for its stylish décor and original artwork.

Day 4: Set Sail for Stavanger
Board a ferry in Hirtshals and sail to the Norwegian port of Kristiansand. Drive northwards, passing fjords, lakes, and forests, to reach Stavanger, one of Norway’s oldest settlements, where the rich heritage is reflected in the well-preserved wooden buildings from the 18th century.

Day 5: Onwards to Colourful Bergen
Norway’s awe-inspiring landscapes set the stage for your journey from Stavanger to Bergen. Upon arrival, dive into the city's Hanseatic heritage, with an orientation tour taking you past the 13th-century Haakon's Hall, the bustling fish market, and the vibrant Bryggen Quarter. This evening, connect with locals during a special Be My Guest experience, enjoying dinner at the Øvre-Eide farm, where the same family has worked the land for five generations.

Day 6: Bergen Your Way
Take a full day to explore Bergen, the cultural heart of Norway, at your own pace.

Day 7: Enjoy the Spectacular Flåm Railway and On to Sognefjord
Today, drive east to the popular ski resort of Voss, where you’ll board a train that ascends over 2800 feet (860 m) above sea level. Embark on one of the world’s most exciting train journeys through the Flåm Valley, past the dramatic Kjosfossen Falls, where a legendary forest spirit is said to dance and lure men into the mountains.

Day 8: Continue to Geirangerfjord
Surrounded by Norway’s stunning glacier landscape, skirt the vast Nordfjord on your way to Geiranger, where the deep blue waters are framed by majestic snow-capped peaks and lush greenery. This evening, stay at one of Trafalgar's most spectacularly located hotels, right on the shores of the fjord.

Day 9: A Day at the Breathtaking Geirangerfjord
Spend the day exploring this awe-inspiring natural wonder. Watch waterfalls cascade down steep cliffs into the glacial waters below, and perhaps explore by kayak or boat, breathing in the fresh mountain air. You may also opt for an experience to the Trollstigen, where Norway’s most famous mountain road winds through steep slopes, tumbling waterfalls, and fertile valleys. Conclude the day with dinner at your hotel.

Day 10: Venture to Historic Lom and Lillehammer
Travel through the high peaks of Geiranger to Lom, a gateway to the Jotunheimen Mountains. Here, Dive Into Culture with a visit to a 12th-century wooden stave church, adorned with Runic inscriptions, paintings, and protective carved dragon figures. Continue through the Gudbrands Valley, the setting for Ibsen's 'Peer Gynt,' before arriving in Lillehammer, famed for hosting the 1994 Winter Olympics. Before dinner, consider a stroll down Storgata or visit the open-air museum at Maihaugen.

Day 11: On to Oslo
On your way to Oslo, pass the striking Olympic ice arena beside Lake Mjøsa, before arriving in Norway’s cultural capital. Join a Local Specialist for a tour of Oslo’s iconic landmarks, including the medieval Akershus fortress, the Opera House, and the 19th-century Royal Palace. You’ll also visit the fascinating Vigeland Sculpture Park before enjoying free time in the city. Perhaps relax with a coffee in the Aker Brygge District or explore Norway’s rich seafaring heritage.

Day 12: Journey to Stockholm
Today, cross the border into Sweden, travelling via Karlstad on Lake Vänern, the largest lake in the European Union. After passing Örebro, arrive in Stockholm, where you’ll spend two nights. This evening, consider joining an Optional Experience to explore the atmospheric Old Town, Gamla Stan.

Day 13: Discover Beautiful Stockholm
This morning, meet your Local Specialist for a sightseeing tour, including the waterside City Hall, the medieval Storkyrkan, Riddarholm Church, and the Royal Palace in Stockholm's charming Old Town. The rest of the day is free for you to explore at your leisure. In the evening, join your fellow travellers and Travel Director for a celebratory dinner, toasting an unforgettable Scandinavian adventure.
