Disneyland and Honolulu With Becs

Disneyland

Disneyland exceeded our expectations, it truly is a world of its own. You step into Disneyland and it's absolutely enchanting. There were times during the day where I would look at the kids' faces and time would stand still. My husband and I felt our own inner child jumping for joy.
We had a three day pass and made sure we paid extra for the Genie +. Three days/nights was the perfect amount of time, we covered Disney in two full days and spent the third day at Disney California adventure park.

We rented a car and drove down to San Diego. The Mission bay resort was stunning, we would rate it 10/10. And to top it off, we had a room on the ground floor which had its own garden which had resident hummingbirds! They are the cutest wee things.

The kids did a bit of research for our trip and convinced us that San Diego Zoo would be a hit. They weren't wrong.

Highlight for us was seeing the Panda. Yun Chuan was playing in a pool and he had the whole crowd oohing and aahing. We were super impressed with the care and consideration San Diego zoo put into the animals' enclosures.

We then drove down to Santa Monica, on our way down we called into Legoland. We were not sure if we were going to add this to our trip, but we are so glad we did. The rides and interactive activities were so much fun! The highlight for the kids was getting their driver's licence which they printed out and put on a lanyard.

We loved cruising around the neighbouring beaches. Malibu beach was stunning and had a cheeky surf. We highly recommend the Malibu farm cafe, set on the pier means the views are beautiful as is the food.

Last stop before home...Hawaii

Bring on ten days of bliss! Two days in Waikiki and we were ready to get out of the city, so we hired a car for three days so we could explore the east and north of O'ahu. We had no set plan and were keen to see where the wind would take us. One of the days we had Shark Cove to ourselves and were blessed to swim alongside a turtle. He was such a cool dude and I know that experience has etched a little spot in our hearts.

Food trucks lived up to their reputation. Our favourites were the Sunshine shack and Giovanni's shrimp.

It was a dream come true surfing Waikiki. The longest ride of my life! Had another encounter with a turtle who popped his head up right next to me, so epic seeing them in their natural environment.

Sunkissed skin, salty hair and sand in the toes was the perfect way to end a trip of a lifetime.

Dukes, Tommy Bahama and Monkeypod were our favourite restaurants.

Next time we visit Hawaii we are keen to do some island hopping.

Travel Tips

A skycouch is a must when travelling long haul with kids.

The kids top and tailed and got a solid five hours sleep (which is impressive considering how excited they were)

Jetlag wasn't really a feature, which meant we hit the ground running.

Next time we visit Hawaii I'll remember to pack a cooler bag, this would be so handy for drinks and snacks.

If you want to rent a surfboard, hire it for a week, they give you a locker and it gives you way more flexibility.

Also if you pay with cash it's cheaper.

We didn't over plan our trip which left plenty of room for serendipity.
