We headed off on our first overseas excursion after Covid, family in tow, including our one year old grandson. May as well make it worthwhile..why not London for Christmas and 10 days in Scotland to visit the rest of the family. Singapore chosen as our route with a stop in each direction, not knowing how travelling with a one year old would go.
Singapore first stop, hotel chosen Marina Bay Sands!!! ( I did say we were making it worthwhile!) It was WOW. The shuttle driver treated us and our 11 pieces of luggage including car seat, stroller, portacot, differently, when we mentioned our hotel of choice. We lucked in at check in, with no queues. It is massive! Our rooms on the 47th floor. We had a swim in the infinity pool at 6.00am and followed with breakfast on the 53rd floor. We walked and caught the subway, visiting Gardens in the Bay, The Cloud Forest, and the Doc Martin store near Orchard Road, which had better prices to the UK. (good to know?) We had lunch/dinner/snack in the Bay Sands Mall attached to the hotel, with own canal and canal boats! We arranged a late check out of one room (at a price) so we could have a base before heading back to the airport to catch our onward flight to London. Returning we based ourselves at Sentosa Island to get another perspective. A nearby beach, resort type hotels with pools, and nearby, Universal Studios, and The Aquarium. Once again it was not busy, which is a relief to me, maybe a week day? An area with many restaurants, including McDonalds, is just a walk away.
All in all, a great update of Singapore, and a break to the monotony of sitting on an airline seat for hours on end watching movies.
